sorry if I can appear tedious but I repeatedly searched/wrote this forum and, as you can read below, tried everything resulted to be possible to solve my issue…
This morning I tried to write Steinberg online support but there’s no iPad option present in the form, so I quote here what I would write there…
Before writing this post I’ve also done a search about minimum system requirements (for app, as there’s no mention in Dorico app page on iPad App Store) and my 8th generation iPad resulted to be suitable, as I’m running IOS 18.7.2
having recently subscribed a lifetime licence for Dorico iPad (Version 6.1.10.6064) I would download Iconica Sketch and Etude piano sounds but I couldn’t succeed so far; I stopped after at least fifteen attempts. My 8th generation iPad, running IOS 18.7.2, has around 30 Gb free space left.
I usually download heavy files through my wifi connection, like Cubase sound libraries, with no issues, so something must be related to this specific case.
I searched and wrote as many posts as possible regarding this topic on Dorico forums but, although I tried everything suggested (switching off and restarting iPad, uninstalling and reinstalling Dorico app, uninstalling Iconica Sketch app that I’d previously purchased, keeping my device as near as I could to wifi router nightime, etc.) downloading always sucks at various percentage (reached max 84%) and this is frustrating and a bit annoying, having just payed for the lifetime subscription…
In Dorico for iPad, Etude Elements is included in the monthly or annual subscription, or the Lifetime Unlock in-app purchase. To download the sounds, go to Reset Sounds in the application menu (the “hamburger” at the right-hand end of the toolbar), and tap the Download button. Once the sounds have been downloaded (the samples are 3GB in size, so the download may take a little while, depending on the speed of your connection), tap the Use Iconica Sketch and Etude Elements button in Reset Sounds to apply the new sounds to your project.
my problem is I can’t complete downloading so I couldn’t even try to play sounds…
I tried downloading both from the reset sounds, as you suggest, and the download sounds button in preferences menu, as others suggested… No way to complete downloading so far
Thank you for answering, anyway, very appreciated!
Have you tried to restart your iPad after the license subscription? Rebooting your modem and/or resetting your network settings might also lead to a solution.
I thought that Iconica Sketch is limited to iPads with more than 4Gb of RAM. Your 8th-gen iPad has only 3 — but apparently, it should still be available, so I’m not sure what the problem is. But it might not work very well in any case.
Hi @benwiggy, I’d read that page but as it says “Yoy can still of course use IS…” I thought I could download sounds anyway and I wanted to try…
You’re right but I thought it could be something similar for the sounds; but I never came to a complete download and this is what made me turn ‘crazy’, as I really don’t like when I can’t understand things.
Exactly what say : the “downloading” screen with the turning ‘wheel’ and the download percentage turns to “download failed” and there is no memory of the percentage he’d reached; if you retry (with or without restarting the device, downloading restarts from zero, as also mentioned in some thread about this topic (I’m trying one more download just now, to take a screenshot, as I’m quite sure it will fail again I would be happy to be wrong…)
I think I’ll give it up for now as I’m really tired to waste time (and I also have Dorico full desktop version) but I thing it’s very ‘singular’ (I don’t want be more explicit or polemic) that there’s no an iPad apps dedicated section in Steinberg online support…
Forums are great but support should be a company service, IMHO.
Given the images above, someone may be able to deduce the problem; since certain aspects of loading may occur at certain “percentages” of the process, there may yet be someone who can say what stage is interrupting the loading in.
I really hope but the percentage at which failing occurs always changes so I guess it has to be a general issue (I remember, with version 5 on iPad, having to disable some accessibility settings…)
