Iconica Sketch Round-Trip compatibility in Logic

Hi,
I posted a positive review of Iconica on the App Store and love using it on iPad.

I did mention in the review that round-trip doesn’t work between Logic Mac and Logic iOS and Lars replied, suggesting I create a forum post about it.

So, just to explain, the round-trip compatibility in Logic is supposed to mean that you can create a project on iPad Logic and open it on Mac Logic, and vice versa. In most cases it doesn’t work because 3rd party plugins don’t get recognised… or sometimes they are recognised and get loaded, but the proper preset or settings don’t get loaded. Some examples of plugins that do work and load straight across are anything by Fabfilter, Moog and Audiomodelling.

With Iconica, it doesn’t come across, instead I get an error to say it can’t load it. I think this is because it loads as Iconica in iPad, but on Mac you must load Halion and then load Iconica within that, so when looks for the app, it’s not finding a match.

I’m guessing there’s not much that can be done about this, but as Lars suggested I post, I thought I would - as it would be great to just create an orchestral track and just load it up between Mac/iOS and have it load. Because orchestral tracks can have dozens of tracks, it’s just not worth using it roundtrip without this functionality as would take ages to reload each track everytime I moved it from iOS to Mac.

I hope this makes sense! Thanks…

Hi @Banquet

Thanks for your message.

I’m afraid there is nothing we can do, since you use Iconica Sketch for iPhone/iPad with Logic for iPad, and the Iconica Sketch desktop version with Logic for macOS.

However, you’re mentioning that this works with other 3rd party iOS and macOS plug-ins?

Best,
Lars

Hi Lars,

Thanks for replying. I thought that would be the case.

Yes, it’s quite hit and miss with different devs but Fabfilter (to give an example) I can open Fabfilter Pro R2 in iOS, change the settings anyway I want and if I open the project on Mac, all the settings are there. This also works the other way around. Also for Moog, Audiomodelling and Pianoteq. plugins.

Others work one way, but not both ways and unfortunately Iconica doesn’t work in either direction.
