If Nuendo 15 is so premium, how come it cannot convert an Audio Drum kit Track to an accurate Midi? Tried and Failed for days in Nuendo, but then launched Ableton Live 12 and on the first try converted the audio to a useable perfect Midi file. WTAF Steinberg? @development
Is it premium? Nuendo is exactly Cubase with added features for post production work.
Steinberg uses the term “premium” to refer to Nuendo in their marketing.
But yeah, in the scope of this post Nuendo and Cubase are exactly the same.
What did you already try, i.e. how did you go about doing this in Nuendo, what type of input audio did you have etc.?
There must be a plug-in.
I can convert kick and snare tracks to MIDI in a minute or two using hit points.
I frequently convert production sound into midi for easier foley editing. Works pretty well!
tried many many many times to convert audio to midi within nuendo 15. The moves are simple enough if you’re in to totally cryptic. But the output in midi is always truncated, at the wrong BPM, missing most of the beats or all at the same time. Yet in Ableton first try got the audio converted to midi file almost 100% right. had a few minor tweaks but the bulk of the original audio was there in midi.
Maybe you could create of generate a Tempo map first.
Otherwise, there is this:

Fredo
heheheh what do you mean?
The process is pretty straightforward:
There are projects that don’t have the budget for hiring a foley artist to record stuff, so I just edit myself from libraries/ plugins. In these cases, anytime there are repetitive actions in production sound that for one reason or another won’t make the cut but have clear transients (for example steps, certain tools, chopping vegetables or whatever), I make a MIDI track out of the production sound and feed it to walker2 or kontakt and it makes it much quicker to put the sounds in sync and using round robins, etc.
Of course this won’t alwasy work. But if there is a lot of walking this can save lots of time!
Unfortunately Cubendo has been behind on this for many years. It takes much more time than it should, but the workarounds mentioned above are the band-aid for now.
As Wheels mentioned, this is a really easy function in Nuendo and works all the the time, so maybe we are confused by the request here? Are you trying to take a stereo drum mix and convert all of the different elements into different midi notes all at once?
We don’t actually have a request … the OP dropped criticism and left without giving any information whatsoever.
If it is stereo file, your best bet would be to use SL Pro to separate drum tracks, and use hitpoints to midi in Nuendo like mentioned. There is no drum separation in Nuendo or Cubase..
Audio to midi accurately? Call it a feature request or a super bug report.
