"Ignore Snap" malfunctions in CC lane in Key Editor

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a MIDI part and open the Key Editor.
  2. Make sure “Snap” is set to On.
  3. Draw a note with the mouse. Observe how it attaches to the grid.
  4. Draw a note and keep mouse button down. Now press and hold Cmd/Ctrl and keep drawing. Observe how the note no longer snaps.
*) This is also default behaviour for Selection Tool and Range Tool in both Key Editor and Project Window.
  5. Open up a CC lane (ex. CC1) and draw some CC values. Observe how they snap to grid.
  6. Draw some CC values and keep mouse down. Now press and hold Cmd/Ctrl and keep drawing. Observe how the values still snap.

Expected result: Holding Cmd/Ctrl should in every single case disable the snap function until released.

Actual result: Consistent use of Cmd/Ctrl all over all tools – except CC values in Key Editor – concludes that this is a bug.

Hi,

If you first hold the Cmd/Ctrl, the Snap becomes disabled in the Controller lane, right?

Not here, no.

Ctrl-Click plainly doesn’t work for me. In the video, after the 4 first clicks (and events), each time you see the tooltip disappear after that, it was a Ctrl-Click. In order to draw events off the grid I have to manually “J” to deactivate snap to grid.

However, I can’t confirm this. In my case, if I hold down the left mouse button and drag, events are created on the grid, along the path of the cursor, but as soon as I press Ctrl, no more events are drawn.

Could there be some setting we’re overlooking?

Not here either.

It seems that it get’s the role of locking the direction instead of disabling snapping. But it’s not really consistent either. It can snap to (what seems like) completely random places.

This goes both for when the Draw Tool is manually selected, and auto selected using the Selection tool.
