Image frame as grid milimeter paper

Hello,

For layout I would like to use an image frame with a svg milimeter paper as source.
I also tried a ping image.
I’m not able to get a correct grid with 1cm in source svg = 1cm in dorico (or 1mm is 1mm)
I set the image to unscaled.

Johan

Did you make the grid the same size as your layout? In other words: do you have a grid image that is as large as the paper you want to set it on?

(PS—what is this for?)

Hello,

I would expect unscaled means 1 cm in source svg is 1cm in dorico no matter what frame size?

I need it for simple graphics layout like this.

Hello,

When graphics frame size and svg size match everything works as expected with aspect fit or fill.

I still do not understand what happens when using unscaled setting.

Kind regards, Johan

No, the image will fill the graphics frame no matter the size (well, it will preserve the proportions as well, so maybe not exactly “fill”).

You would need to set the dimensions of the graphics frame exactly what the image is, then it will be 1:1 size.

Hello dankreider,

It works perfectly when setting frame dimensions as image source dimensions.
Then I get a 1 :1

But I still do not know what unscaled means in the graphic fit mode setting.
There are 3 options.

Aspect fit
Fill
Unscaled

Johan

I don’t use graphic frames much, so I don’t know for sure, but I think the general definitions would be:

Aspect fit: fit the image inside the frame, but keep its original proportions
Fill: fill the frame completely, even if it means stretching the image
Unscaled: Insert the image as its actual size, even if that size doesn’t match the size of the frame.

Hello dankreider,

Aspect fit: logical
Fill: logical
Unscaled: Have no clue

I did some more experiments exporting slides from within dorico.
SVG is close but not pixel perfect I think.
PNG size unscaled depends on dpi size.

It would be nice to get some more documentation.
Not sure if it works as it is intended.

Thank you,

Kind regards, Johan
