Import audio always create a new audio track?

Hi i always use file - import audio. Is there a way to set a preference so that it always creates a new audio track instead of it just plonking the audio clip on what track you currently got selected? cause there should be imo and i cant find it if there is.

i know what you mean ,don`t know if you can set a pref , i usualy create a new audio track and highlight that track , highlighting the track is the key .

If you search for audio outside Cubase, you can drag it into the empty space at the bottom of your project - that will create a new track. It’s not perfect, but it’s another option.
