Importing an audio file - unexpected key change

I imported an audio file containing

a vocal clip. But the key had changed

(about a tone down).

How do I sort this?

It could be that the sample-rate the audio was recorded with doesn’t match the project’s sample rate.

I have found a way around it.

The original was recorded as an

M4A, which I converted to wav to

import into Cubase. When I converted

the original to mp3 instead, it worked

fine.

The most important take-away should be to look at the information in your import dialogue window. Choose “match sample rate to project” (paraphrasing) . It didn’t have anything to do with the file format itself.
