Importing .midiremote template but function mappings are missing

When the MIDI remote feature was introduced, I followed Jef Gibbons instructions and downloaded his template for NI Maschine MK3 here (in .midiremote-Format). This file is converted to a .json-File and stored in “..\MIDI Remote\Driver Scripts\Local\” folder. It worked fine then.
Maschine MK is configured correctly.

I had to reinstall Cubase 14 and tried to import the script again, but there are no Cubase functions mapped anymore. I remember that last time they were assigned.

What am I missing here?

Try this:

  • Delete the MIDI Remote Surface from inside Cubase

  • Close Cubase

  • Navigate to [your Documents Folder]/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote/User Settings

  • Find a file named similarly to this: Native Instruments_Maschine MK3_401A630B82308633E240C14D3B4B6B57_globalmappings.json

  • Delete this file

  • Reopen Cubase and reinstall the script.

Perfect, thank you so much!

That folder is in OneDrive and it apparently still contains other items. Such as my old Novation Impulse 61 globalmappings.

Do you know by any chance, if it is possible to use this to restore my MIDI remote controller surface plus its mapping from this file?

I missed to backup these files before reinstalling.

The json file located under …/driver scripts/local/… contains the elements of the controller. The file in the folder I’ve mentioned in the previous post, contains the mappings. So, sure, it should be doable to restore these, if that’s what we’re talking about.

But how would I do it as there is no import function in the mapping assistant?

Just replace the file under /user settings/ with the one you have backed up.
