Importing Video

I’m attempting to do create on-line teaching videos and have recorded some MP4s using Debut video capture software.

I’ve managed to successfully import MP4s from the internet into Cubase (I’ve created a video track, can see the video as a thumb nail and frames), but none of my original MP4s will import: no error messages etc, they just don’t appear in the project or in the pool. Standard frame width/height, only a few Mbs…

Win 7, Cubase Pro 10.0.40

Any advice appreciated,

Please make sure, your video follows Video support in Nuendo, Cubase, WaveLab and Dorico format.

as it suggests, I’ll use a video converter on my existing videos, but, to save that step in future videos;

Can anyone recommend an easy, free video capture program (for windows) that generates Cubase-compatible videos? I’m only interested in creating small frame videos of a couple of minutes duration that can quickly be downloaded by students as a learning tool, so video/audio quality is not critical.
