Improvements for Players in Setup Mode

A medium deep search only gave rather old topics bordering my request, so I chose to create a new topic.

It would be lovely if:

  • we could duplicate multiple players simultaneously
  • we could select multiple instruments within a player and change the order of them as a bundle (especially for percussionists)
  • Dorico would create the layouts of duplicated players not at the bottom, but right below the original player’s Layout as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, which I have noted.

Can I add one? The option to set the default order to none.
(I do a lot of mixed chamber ensemble work and it’s irritating that piano defaults above strings as I forget to switch off the autosort. Unless I’ve missed a trick somewhere?)

This would be fantastic.

I have a “Percussion Storage” player containing about 20 instruments. Many times I need to move unrequired instruments from [Percussion 1] to that player. What with the Players panel jumping back to the top each time I drag an instrument to another, this would save me heaps of scrolling and dragging.

If we’re on this I have another small suggestion: after duplicating a player (using a keyboard shortcut), keep the duplicate selected so you can immediately duplicate it again instead of having to click it first.

Maybe it is there but an option to in one setup step change if chord symbols above the staff of an instrument should appear would be helpful. For some reason the instrument setting in the setup (…) is only active for one instrument at the time when you highlight several the three dots are greyed out.
