I can open them up from the mixer page, but not this page. Anyone else seeing this issue. I did not have this problem prior to installing Waves 16 and Lexicon’s reverb updates. However on a blank Cubase session and just throwing in Cubase plug ins I am getting this same issue.
Hi,
that’s because you are on the Routing tab of your inserts. Click here and everything is back to normal
and, in addition to the short but helpful answer of Reco29 I can recommend you read about that routing It is an interesting feature in Cubase.
Thanks, I never noticed this on the bottom of the screen before.
This can be quite confusing, indeed
Since @Knopf mentioned it:
There are some use cases this routing feature comes in quite handy. For example, if you want to work with dual mono compression (each side left/right is compressed individually, more movement in the stereo image but also to be treated with care or you could lose your centre information). If you don’t have a classic dual mono compressor like a Fairchild 670 or a Neve 33609 then this lets you turn standard compressors into dual mono compressors. But this wouldn’t be too high on my priority list for now
I think it is poor UI design and therefore am not surprised when people don’t even see those items.
On the bright side: At least Cubase uses it consistently. So whenever you have tabs on the top it is worth to check for tabs on the bottom as well.
Cubase offers an extraordinary broad and deep set of features which lets this DAW stand out and shine like no other. At the same time it’s one of the most difficult challenges to organize all these features in a way that they offer some sort of intuitive handling. That’s definitely something that is much more difficult than it seems. Being no design expert I wouldn’t even know where to start…Nonetheless, I’m with Johnny - even if you know about these sub-tabs you’ll often have to look twice.
I would put those “sub-tabs” at the top, just under the main tabs. First, its way more visible that way, and then, in case you need to switch a lot between the tabs and sub-tabs, you don’t need to move your mouse pointer in a completely different area of the screen.
But Cubase is not the only software with that design flaw…
