I’ve looked through the new features and the N13 operation manual and I don’t see anything about doing the typical re-renders as done in the Dolby Atmos Renderer. Exporting them to 7.1, 5.1, 2.0, and binaural. Please tell me I’m missing something and that it is now a part of Nuendo 13! It would speed my workflow. I do have the Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite, but it is in a separate computer.
The only thing that has changed in the Atmos Render between version 12 and version 13 is that it now also supports 9.1.6 as a channel configuration.
As before, Nuendo 13 only offers the “Re-Rendering Light” in the Trim and Downmix section of the render.
Hey, sorry i am new in nuendo (20years plus in Protools). Is it possible to have live re-renders with the internal dolby renderer in Nuendo 13? 5.1; 2.0. and 2.0 Binaural? Thanks
It still has not been added. I have the Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite and once I’m done mixing, I take it to that computer and do any re-renders I need.
Its a bit of a pain, but I think all the DAWs that license Atmos are in the same situation.
That is a bummer considering Pro Tools offers live re-renders to monitor levels. You can monitor live re-renders using provided inputs like “loudness” (5.1 ADM measurements), Binaural, and Stereo. Hopefully that happens for Nuendo soon!
I haven’t dove into atmos for Nuendo yet, but am I also reading right that you cannot export re-renders at the same time as exporting your ADM? Another Pro Tools feature that seems like a must for Nuendo if that is the case.
In Nuendo you can monitor in different common surround configurations and also binaural.
I’m not sure what the pro tools loudness inputs are exactly, but there is a lot of available metering in Nuendo that is plenty for me when mixing.
When mastering stereo bin files, I have more available, of course.
Here are three meters I use for checking levels and loudness while mixing Atmos or any surround format in Nuendo, below. (available in all stereo and surround configs, just showing 7.1.4 here as an example)
Did you need more than that?
The problem is exporting re-renders. You have to export an ADM file from Nuendo and then bring it in to to a Dolby Atmos program for that. The new software available now is cheaper than the Dolby Mastering Suite I had to buy for $1000. Just check out the Dolby site.
Thanks Paulwr. I was just wondering how your ADM levels / True Peaks are when referencing the Nuendo Renderer vs the external Dolby Atmos renderer statistics for an ADM.
I believe Pro Tools 5.1 loudness input provides this same information, or at least close to it. (they do not have levels within the renderer window) I found I could export a “loudness 5.1” re-render file from pro tools while exporting an ADM to be able to bulk read statistics in wavelab, and it ends up being very close to the external renderer statistics for an ADM.
I see Nuendo has the downmix options to be able to monitor right in the renderer which is great, but its been nice in Pro Tools to be able to monitor an ADM / Binaural file’s LUFS/True Peaks at the same time, similar to the external renderer.
I was more so just wondering how this all matched up in comparison rather than disparaging Nuendo, a DAW i love!
