I selected a passage that contains a series of 3 note chords (i.e. 3-part harmony). I want to lower the highest part an octave using the Note Tools popover. Whether I type ttop-8 (as per Ernesto Aguirre’s video about Note Tools) or t top -8 (as per the online manual) Dorico transposes everything down an octave. Do you have any idea why it isn’t working for me? I was able to get the same result, by going to Filter > Notes in Chords and having it change the SELECTION to top notes only, then typing t-8, but according to the video and manual I shouldn’t have to use the Filter. Thanks!
It’s working for me. I selected a passage of triads, entered in the Shift-I popover “t top -8” and just the top note went down an octave. (I didn’t realize the shift-I popover could do this. I usually filter and use the ctrl-alt-down arrow key command to move it down an octave).
Thanks for responding. And it’s still not working for me. I thought maybe it didn’t work because I was using a file converted from Finale, so I made a short example from scratch on Dorico, but had the same result. I’m on a MacBook Pro. Maybe it works better on Windows?? Or I’ve somehow got a glitch in my computer or my copy of Dorico. Anyone else have an idea of why it won’t work for me?
Do you have all the notes in the same voice?
What version of Dorico are you using?
Sometimes one inadvertently starts Dorico Pro in another mode like Elements etc. Maybe this happened?
If you want, post a cutdown project with the problem.
Yes it would have been smart of me to send the short example I made in the first place. Attached here is the short example. Most likely it’s some glitch in my software and when you try it on my example it will probably work fine. If anyone figures out what’s preventing my copy of Dorico from performing this task that’d be great, but if not, I can use the work-around.

In the example project you uploaded I’m afraid it’s working properly for me. (Dorico 6). I did discover that you don’t need the first ‘t’ in the Shift-I popover. Select the entire measure, enter “top -8” and it works. I also tried “ttop-8” (no spaces) and “ttop -8” (with a space after ttop).
For me too.
