Incoming MIDI while the audio interface is disconnected

Hi,

when I disconnect the audio interface (RME FF800 connected through FireWire/Thunderbolt adapter to MacBook Mid 2015), but I play MIDI (with another MIDI interface) while the audio interface is disconnected, the whole MIDI data (that wasn’t “handled” due to no ASIO driver choosen for a while) starts to play a while after connecting the audio interface. It might be catastrophical when using Cubase live and accidental disconnects. Is there a way to turn it off?

How is the MIDI Device connected to your computer? Does it use any USB port? So is it independent on Fireface FF800?

Where are the MIDI data ousted to (what is the output)?
