Inconsistencies between tree menu shape and hot key defintion tree

Probably not very obvious to those very familiar with Dorico but there is inconsistency between:

  • the tree menu shape that one sees when using menu items
  • the tree shape you see when defining hot keys under “Key Commands”.

I would suspect this inconsistency has got worse as the gui has changed - i.e. at some point the ‘notations’ sub menu got added to ‘edit’.

Could it be possible to bring those two trees much more closely into alignment ?

Dorico is so well designed I haven’t found the need to add many hot keys but each one has cost me so much time.

E.g. in relating to ‘swap’ I had to request information from this forum because there seemed to be no way of determining what to do . (And of course I got excellent and immediate answers ) :grinning:

There is no direct correlation between the categories we use for key commands and the menus where commands end up.

Hopefully, however, you will find that the same (or very similar) names are used for the menu item and the underlying command, so searching in the Key Commands page of Preferences makes it easy enough to find the thing you’re looking for.
