I’m a newbie (coming from Sibelius) and trying to adapt all my notation to Dorico.
I found a inconsistency between score and parts when adding a line (with arrow) to indicate a gradual shift from one playing technique to another.
The correct position of the line should be in between xt and sp. (I cannot show the image, because I’m allowed to add only one image - tells me the system….)
Is there a way to align the line with the playing techniques, so that it mantains the position also in the parts? Or has all the positioning of lines to be re-done in parts??
Luckily for this one it is possible to create a shortcut.
Honestly I still struggle with the fact that a lot of functions are not available as shortcuts. Scripts may help, but also the fact that I can’t assign shortcuts to customized scripts is somehow weird.
Most functions are available to be given shortcuts in Preferences > Key Commands.
It is possible to give Scripts shortcuts using the Jump Bar, I believe. (On macOS, you should also be able to give them key commands using the system functionality, because they are menu items.)
I’m with Aaron on this one. Please tell us what kind of function you’d like to add to your shortcuts and we’ll help you out! (for instance, I’ve set myself some shortcuts to add intervals to the note just like in Sibelius, the only feature I thought was kind of missing in Dorico. It took some time and, unfortunately, some intervals do not work for reasons I don’t understand and might be connected to the fact my keyboard layout is French, but even like that, I use this feature almost every day!)
Dear all,
thanks for your helpful tipps. I tried to create aliases within the jump bar for my skripts. But somehow it doesn’t work. I followed carefully the instructions, but maybe I missed something. Here a screenshot of the command for creating the alias.
As an ex-Sibelius user I’m really struggling with the fact, that I can’t select with the mouse the second tied note for adding a laying technique. Is the only way the one to go to the second note and hit ENTER? Because by double clicking, the carot always jumps to the first note.
Sorry for all these questions but changing software is a real challenge especially in the field of contemporary music.
Thank you so much!!
Well, the problem here is that there is no second note, for Dorico. Unless you use two different voices for that tied note, which is cumbersome (but sometimes useful). Using the caret is indeed the proper way and with some practice (and the appropriate zoom level), you can double click above and left that note to put the caret there
