So I made title page template for a collection of works I was porting from finale to Dorico. I like the fact you can make all these other types of pages which in the past I had to build in other programs so I’m trying to use this feature.
So I made this page and exported it as a template:
both works should be the same size so I’m confused why they don’t match exactly.
Another question is is there away to set the layer level or z-index of the text boxes?
In order to make the border I have to make 2 large text boxes which seem to be the ones that activate if I double click. I have to move them anytime I need to edit text. It they where set to a back layer I’m guessing I wouldn’t have this issue.
You can’t set the z-order of text frames, but you can use Shift+Alt+click to “click through” overlapping items, including frames, to select the ones underneath.
Sorry, it’s nearly 11pm here in London and I’m struggling to play “spot the difference” between two almost identical screenshots. For the benefit of tired, middle-aged men who have had a long day, could you be a bit more explicit about what the problems are?
Yeah I hear you, I can see anything without my bifocals these days. Thanks for the help so far. If you look at the box lines between projecttitle and projectcomposer the lay out is different.
Without seeing the projects themselves I’m not sure what could account for the differences. The positions of frames relative to the page are determined by precisely how they are set up, in terms of their constraints (the padlocks in the left-hand panel) and the page dimensions.
Hi @tfbsaxman, could you provide (upload) your original file containing that title page, and separately upload your exported page template set? To see what/why is different (the position of the frames etc…)
Hi @tfbsaxman, as we said, if you provide the files (the original project from which you exported your page template, and the project where you imported it) we don’t need to guess what is going on. I don’t know how your screenshots are accurate, but it seems to me as the two projects have different Page Margins settings (beside probable other differences), so the frames constrains act differently.
You can navigate between frames with just the arrow keys. Be sure that no control points are active to be able to do that. You can use TAB to switch between deselecting all control points and selecting the upper left control point of the active frame. Once you have navigated to the desired frame, use TAB to activate the upper left control point, then use the arrow keys to select another control point, and finally use the move shortcuts to move the frame margins where you need. No mouse needed
Ok Yeah using arrow keys to move around then hitting enter seem to be a work around for this. That should speed up things thanks.
I understand how providing files is useful though this is a public site so it makes sharing hard. Since I sell this music for my living I can’t post in the public. I kind of asking Steinberg to make their github repo open to the public. I’ld have to make a new version that strips out most of the music or some alt-version.
They both should be letter size but maybe one is still A3, I think I found there are a few place that has to change to take effect.
You could (if you want us to further investigate) easily make a duplicate of your Projects, delete all the music and just leave those title pages that are shown in your screenshots.
In almost ten years I have followed this forum, reading almost every post, I have never seen anyone complain that their music has been appropriated after posting it here.
