hi i am mixing and wanted know if anyone can help. I need to know how to bring down the the volume of areas in a midi instrument track without affecting the volume of the whole track

You cannot change the volume of Midi notes.
The only way to do that precisely would be to render the midi events as audio then automate the volume.
You can also automate the volume of your instrument without having to render to audio.
Another way is to open Midi editor, select the notes you want to edit and decrease the velocity.
Volume does not exist for Midi.
Duplicate the instrument track. Put the lower volume instrument on one track and the higher volume on another.
