I’m working on my new orchestral score and added extra staff below instrument and tried to reduce size but changing my linked instrument staff size as well. How can I change the added extra staff size only?
Do you want to add an ossia staff, e.g. to write out exactly which notes to play for a trill or to offer an alternative version of a part? If so, see here.

I have a similar question. I’m doing a basic hymn with a descant. I used the grand staff template and clicked on “add a staff above”… It’s basically only one player in the setup. Now I need to make just the descant staff smaller, but when I use the right click menu for a custom staff size, it changes all three of my staves rather than just the descant staff. Is there something else I should be considering? I haven’t been able to find any info for this situation.

I don’t think it’s possible to adjust only one staff of an instrument.
You could use a workaround such as creating a single staff instrument directly above the piano and then bracing them together. (There are other things you’ll need to adjust too, if you’re interested)
Ok, thank you Daniel. I was wondering about that. I guess I can create a separate vocal line staff for the descant.

You can change the size of the Ossia staff in Engraving Options>staves. Change the scale factor to 0.8.

You are right, yes: extra staves will play back, but ossias will not.
