Info Line Value Box Behaviour Changed in Cubase 15?

Hi everyone,

I’m coming from Cubase 14 Pro, and in Cubase 15 and I’ve noticed that the value box in the Info Line behaves differently.

I often select automation points and then click and drag in the value box to increase or decrease the value. In Cubase 14, this movement was smooth and continuous, but in Cubase 15 it now seems snapped or constrained to specific steps.

To get the same fluid behaviour as before, I now have to hold OPTION (Mac) before clicking and dragging.

Is there a new preference I am not aware of? I would like to have the old behaviour

I am on macOS Sequoia, thanks!

Hi, did you ever find a solution? Unfortunately I’m still having this issue on the latest Cubase 15.0.10 update.

Are you also on Mac?
I am running Cubase on Windows and have no such issues.

I see no difference here between C14/15 on Win11 either.

Is this with every automation lane or maybe tied to some plugins?

I have Cubase Pro 15 installed on both Mac and Windows - I can confirm that this only impacts my Mac installation. I have also spoken to other producers in my network and this is true for them also - only impacts those on Mac but not those on Windows

This only seems to impact MacOS installations of Cubase Pro 15… it’s not related to automations or anything like that. The issue relates to any event that is selected (either audio or MIDI) and for which you want to change a value (such as ‘transpose’) by dragging the value up or down in the ‘Info Line’ toolbar at the top of the main Cubase window. In Cubase 14 and below, the dragging actions responded in a linear fashion, however in Cubase 15 (on Macs) it now responds in a logarithmic fashion - so you have to move it a very long way to increase the value by +/- 1, but then each increment requires less movement to the point it becomes uncontrollable.

Well, no really. As I mentioned before, the only workaround I found is to hold OPTION before clicking and dragging, but that is not ideal when you need to use the Value box many times.

My solution is that I decided to use Cubase 14 instead, that doens’t have the Info line problem. I work on film and TV, and all the new features in Cubase 15 are not really that useful to me.
