Initial Timpani tunings without breaking multi-bar rests

Forgive me if this is covered elsewhere. I have spent the last couple hours combing the forums for a solution to what seems like a common task, but I can’t find it. I’m simply trying to provide initial timpani tunings (as a playing technique) but NOT have it break the multi-bar rest. I realize I could attach it somewhere further down in the piece and drag it back, and also that a text box would work, but these both seem like inelegant solutions to something that is pretty common. Is there a different tool that I’m missing that would be better suited to this task?

Many thanks for your help and for the excellent product. I’m in Dorico 5.0.10 on a Mac and loving it.

my preference is to show the actual notes in the 1st measure, in cue size.
I usually place them in another voice, hide the beam, make them smaller, and remove playback for those notes.
simply putting the note names leaves a certain degree of ambiguity that can be avoided by inserting visible notes.

If you attach it as Text and place it right on beat 1, then it won’t break the multibar rest.

I knew it would be stupidly obvious. Thanks! I have been attaching all of these as playing techniques but this approach makes much more sense.

Unrelated, but is there an option to number your multi-bar rests as you did here?
