Input to Audio Tracks Problem

Hi, I’m running Cubase Pro 15.0.6.

A problem has suddenly arisen whereby I can’t add any data to audio tracks. This occurs when Im trying to record a vocal or guitar etc… I’m using a Roland Octa-Capture as my interface and my signal path is as it’s always been.

Could there be a setting that I’m not aware of?

I would appreciate any help

Hi, @runawaymartin

What actually happens ? No sound when monitoring or do you get a flat waveform display ?

Beside this, could you make a screenshot of the inspector of your audio track with the Routing section unfolded ? Maybe there is an issue concerning it. Beside this, what is the mic used ? Any Phantom powering that could be involved ?

Hi, @cubic13

Many thanks for your response. In answer to your questions . . . .

  1. I get no sound when monitoring

  2. When recording I get an empty waveform display

  3. I’m using a Shure BETA 58A Mic with no Phantom power involved

I will make a screenshot as you suggested and get back to you

Many thanks…..

Hi again cubic13 . . I’ve uploaded the screenshot you’ve suggested . .

I can see the signal is being received on input 6 of the Octa-Capture but no data seems to be accepted by Cubase

Hi,

can you also have a look at your audio connections/inputs (F4 keycommand) - is the correct physical input channel of your audiointerface assigned to “Voc In”?
If you open the mixer and look at your input channel “Voc In” - you should see a signal. Maybe you need to adjust the gain here or on your audiointerface?

Thanks Reco29 . . . Your suggestion is a good one but I have already done what you’ve suggested to no avail.

Okay, so your ASIO driver is in place, the audio connections are properly assigned, the routing is in place and still Cubase sees no incoming signal.
In this case, did you check if the signal path on your audiointerface is routed out and not exclusively on direct monitoring?
Also, check for driver and firmware updates for your audiointerface, please.

Make sure a windows update or similar hasn’t disabled microphone access under windows privacy and security settings.

Thanks RECO29 . . . I don’t have my equipment up and running at the moment but I will check out the routing you mentioned. I’ll also ascertain the driver/firmware situation

Thanks again . . .

Hi again, and sorry for the late reply.

Just in case none of @Reco29 and @Grim suggestions make any improvement, maybe it’s time to consider an issue with your USB cable…
