Installation Cubase 12 Elements fails in Windows 11

image
Hello. When migrating from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (fresh installs), installation of Cubase Elements 12 fails.

  1. Steinberg Download Assistant installs without issue. I can log in.
  2. When selecting Cubase Elements 12 for install, the first problem is that the appropriate folder isn’t created (C:\Program FIles\Steinberg\Install Assistant). This can be created manually, and the installation files are downloaded.
  3. The downloaded files cannot execute. Error message as included file. “Installation failed due to an unknown error”. You can do it manually, but then the software isn’t registered within Windows 11 and cannot be executed.

Any help appriciated.

I have: Tried reinstall everything. Installed latest version of Java.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Please make sure the folder has the write permissions. If it doesn’t install automatically, install in from the folder manually. Make sure, you install it as administrator, please.

I am having exactly the same issues as Stringnut but that only dll files are present in the download location. This is with the 30 day trial. I’ve used up 5 days already trying just to install it! Not acceptable

Update Java to the latest version.

Create the C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Install Assistant folder manually.

Run the Steinberg Download Assistant, click the Settings button, change the Download directory.

Click the icon for your version of Cubase in the Steinberg Download Assistant and change the Target folder, or reset to default.

I have this problem too. I tried all of the solutions below but still get the same “ Installation failed” box
