I’m trying to install the ‘DAW Integration Script’ for my ‘Arturia’ midi controller. It says to download the script, then move the folder to: C\users\username\documents\steinberg\cubase\midi Remote\driver Scripts\Local\Arturia
When I get as far as the “documents” folder there is nothing in it… I can find a “midiremote_factory-scripts” folder in my ‘Program Files\Steinberg’…
Do you think I should Past the folder there?
Okay, that’s good to know. Thank you… I didn’t know b/c before now, I’ve had “essentials 9.5”… I haven’t even booted-up “Pro 13” yet… Thanks again. I’m glad
Anyway, since I realize that copying/pasting files is not perhaps the most straight-forward way, here’s the one I suggest, based on how Cubase actually likes importing/exporting midi remote surfaces.
Click it and then find and select the file you’ve just downloaded.
If all went well, you’ll see the device added to the scripts section, and most probably Cubase will recognize it immediately and set it up as a MIDI Remote.
If this doesn’t happen, you’ll have to manually assign its ports by using the big PLUS button in the MIDI Remote tab of the lower window zone, select your device and its ports (I don’t have this controller, this is why you won’t see in this screenshot the MIDI ports that should be assigned).
I really appreciate the help and will download and try that… Just out of curiosity, since the original instruction was looking for the “cubase_scripts” folder in “documents” and pasting there folder; do you think if I pasted it in the “cubase_scripts” folder I found would work the same? Or dangerous to mess with? (The only difference was the instructions said it would be in the “Documents-Steinberg” but I found it “Program Files-Steinberg”
This folder is most probably for copying to the documents folder on a first startUp or when something is missing.
Please follow my previous post, while I still find it pretty weird you can’t see directories into your Documents folder. Wondering if you’re looking at some kind of oneDrive Documents folder maybe…
The folder in Documents should get created by Cubase if you import the script as m.c. suggested or if you create a remote surface by yourself through the editor in Cubase.
I made a remote surface myself for an Akai device and the folder was created by Cubase.
Okay, thanks again. I’ll follow your above instructions… I agree it’s weird about the ‘documents’ folder not showing anything. It’s empty, though it’s a new PC with only a handful of software installed… Is it because I got to the ‘documents’ folder? I followed exactly the instructions. (C-Users-My Name-Document etc…) Maybe there’s a setting hiding them. There’s tons hidden in ‘Program Files’, but I leave it that way so I don’t hurt anything.
There are 2 possible downloads for the script from ‘Arturia’ ( 1=From the set-up steps link & 2= from the ‘resources’ tab – Both have different instructions. 1= The copy folder & 2= Similar to your method)
*I realized that the location I couldn’t find under ‘Documents’ (which is empty) is ONLY empty if I go through the suggested “C:/Users/MyName/Documents”… If I just click on the ‘File Explorer’ and go to ‘Documents’ all the inner-folders are there… I wonder if that would be the same, if I copied the folder there instead of through “C/Users”???
Calm down, dude. Just carefully read what we write. First, I have the orange avatar and did not write any instructions to you. I rather asked for a link, unfortunately you did not post one.
Windows has two Document folders, one for the current account and one for all accounts. Maybe your stuff is installed in the all accounts folder.
Thirdly, don’t add any of your files to ProgramFiles/Cubase. Just don’t.
Okay, thanks. Sorry that last reply was meant for “m.c.”… At the bottom I’ll paste the link to ‘Arturia’. On the bottom of that page there’s the downloadable scripts, but Idk which of the 2 versions that is… I definitely won’t mess with program files. Thanks for the input. So, if everything is getting installed to the “all account’s - Documents”… Would you suggest using that ‘file explorer/documents/steinberg’ since I can’t find a ‘C/users/Documents/Steinberg’?

Thanks for the link.
I downloaded the .zip file for Cubase. Inside I found a manual that describes the installation process step by step. And, surprise, they are the same steps that @m.c described.
I have no idea where you got your initial information from but Arturia made a good job describing what needs to be done on page 2. Just follow that.
The MyName is actually your user name, thus when you simply click on Documents, it takes you right there.
Hi Johnny, as @GuitarBinge said there are two areas of installation instructions. In the resources, Arturia have exactly the same with the one I prepared. In fact, I missed the resources tab completely, and went for the very first google result:
Here, if we click on Cubase 12 link, it downloads a zip file containing the folder of the script and instructions to paste it in the proper folder. I guess they haven’t updated this area.
This means that I lost some minutes preparing something placed elsewhere
Okay, I’ll take that route. Sorry for the trouble. I didn’t take that route, b/c the ‘controller’ said to plug-in and follow on-screen instructions & videos. Those didn’t take me to that download, they took me to a separate link; saying to follow the other way… So, I’m going to do the way you both suggest. Thanks again, and sorry for the trouble… It’s the first time I’ve had a controller worth “linking”, nevertheless a full version of a DAW
Thanks again for all the help, I really appreciate it. Sorry I was following the other video instructions that came with the controller. I know the way you told me is the way they have under ‘resources’ and I’ll do it tonight… Just to keep you posted, I know the “Username/MyName” is my used account. When I chose that one and went to ‘documents’ it didn’t have the folders it was empty. There were some folders under the ‘Username/Shared or Common/’ but still not the Steinberg one. The other forum user “JM” says:
