Instant Undo for an error in lyric assignment?

I paste my lyrics from notepad++

So Often :dash:I make mistakes, Typically skipping past a syllable or adding a syllable to a note which shouldn’t get a syllable . E.g. "ar-va non af-fe-rent ci-bum: "

I notice my mistakes at once but pressing control-Z doesn’t fix it. Nor does moving backwards and forwards with the arrow keys , and of course part of the buffer text in the clipboard has its first syllable consumed. :face_with_head_bandage:

Is there an easy way of correcting this mistake which I’m missing out on.?

Today I have a ‘StreamDeck’ key dedicated to

  1. jumping back into notepad ++,
  2. reloading the buffer and then
  3. re-starting the process of entering syllables.

But is that the best solution?

I have been doing this manually, but what you are doing is a good idea, I do not know of better way of solving it.

It would be fantastic if the undo actually worked for this, and also put syllables back in the buffer.

I’m used to cutting the syllable and pasting it on the accurate note with the popover…

If the grid is set to eighth notes, you can move the lyric with Option-Left.

Yes: That will fix me most of the time. This is my simple “Scoop Text” macro for StreamDeck

To use it you:

  1. highlight a section of the libretto in notepad++
  2. switch to Dorico and highlight the note to receive the next syllable
  3. Press the "Scoop Text"button
  4. It will assign the first syllable
  5. Then you continue pressing control-C or space until you done (or make a mistake)

Its handy if you have nearby StreamDeck buttons for ‘Alt-Tab’, and ‘control-C’
