Instrument Change: Hiding Clef and Key Signature

Hello All:

I am currently on a 2020 MacBook Air running Sequoia 15.6, and I am using Dorico version 6.1.10.6078.

I’m having an issue with hiding the clef and key signature that follow an instrument change. My use case is a drum part for a big band chart.

I’ve read other posts that recommend to either set the custom scale to 1% or set the color to transparent; however, neither of these options have worked. I have attached a video of me going through the process as well as the project itself.

If anyone has any insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The Dorico file would be better than the mxl to figure out what’s going on.

Noted. I originally didn’t post it because the file was too large. Here is a Dropbox link to the Dorico file.

Thank you for checking this out!

OK, next time, use the Silence playback template to reduce the size.

Would you mind specifying what you mean by the “Silence playback template”? This is the first time that I’ve heard about this.

Under Play→Playback Template, there’s one called Silence that will reduce the file size if you apply it.

Regarding your file, one way is to change the instrument definition of the bass staff instrument, and set it to use a percussion clef, then transpose the part up as needed. Below, one octave. It will show in treble clef.

Isn’t it ok with a rhytmic cue? Then just use the built in cue function.

Then you can use slash regions also.

But maybe without the chord symbols?

I went ahead and applied what you specified in this post, and it worked!

I looking for the drummer to have a clearer idea of what they’re playing with in the ensemble.

In any case, thank you so much!

De nada.
