Instrument change in same staff

Dear Forum,

I’d like a pianist to shift between playing piano and celeste. All written in treble clef only (how to hide the bass clef?)

In the same way, I’d like another part to have both vibraphone and glockenspiel.

Is there a way to put it in the same staff - and have noteperformer understand this change as well?

To begin with, I’d like to do it using the full score only.

Thanks

This is one of the great features that Dorico has:

All you need to do is add these Instruments to the relevant Player and the instrument changes will happen automatically for you.

Or have I missed something?

Am I right to have given up on hiding the bass clef in Elements?

If by hiding bass clef you mean hiding the bottom staff, you can do this in Elements:

Select something, right click and choose Staff > Manual Staff Visibility:

Then in the dialog, hide the staff Piano (b)

Result:

If you don’t like the one-staff brace;

Layout Options > brackets & Braces:

Thanks so much @charles_piano !

When I do like you describe, the bass clef is indeed hidden in Engrave mode, but not in Write mode. Is this expected?

Thanks so much for your help :folded_hands:

Hmmm, no!

But aren’t you talking about Galley View vs. Page View?

In Galley View you’ll always see staves that have been hidden this way. You don’t have to worry about it, they won’t show up elsewhere.

If it’s not what I’m describing, could you please share a screenshot of both modes?

Ah I see, galley view shows all staves always - what a pity, now that you helped me this far.

You can choose which staves to show (in galley view) using the instrument filters…

Yes, but you can’t divide a grand-staff, which is what @steinfeld wants…

@steinfeld FWIW: what you’re looking for is possible in the Pro version, by editing the instrument definition or creating a custom instrument.

[Just in case you’re considering about an upgrade ]
