Instrument change is showing 2 staves, how to hide one

Hi, maybe someone has a suggestion how I can hide the empty staff (see screenshot) when the score is switching to another instrument. This looks a bit strange, such an extra empty staff with no instrument name on the left. Thank you.

Solved. Create a bar with a whole note in the 2nd voice in bar 10 (WW 2) and hide it. Add a whole note rest in the upper voice (Shift R - Rest), adjust the vertical position, and copy and paste this bar (in this example) into bar 11 & 12, in the WW 2 staff, which forces the Instrument warning to the next system (starting at bar 13) and hides the empty extra staff.

That sounds convoluted, but without seeing the original file it’s hard to suggest an alternative…

There is one downside, by adding the extra ‘empty’ bars in the score, they will also appear in the parts. But this can be solved by temporarily adding or deleting the extra ‘empty’ bars, before printing PDF’s. Not ideal, I know, but for presenting a full score to a publisher without the strange empty extra staff isn’t an option either.
Another work-around is to start a new system with the instrument change warning. It depends from the kind of music if this is an option, in some cases when 4 bars per system are requested this isn’t always possible, as in my example.

Maybe I don’t fully understand your problem, but isn’t it sufficient to add a system break at the start of this system and select to hide the staff that is empty?

Dear LAE, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately there isn’t an option to hide the extra useless staff with the Manual Staff Visibillity manager, as you can see in the attached screenshot. I think that’s because it’s only 3 Woodwinds players, with one of them switching from Clarinet to Saxophone (WW 1).

I overlooked this option, in the Layout Options, Staff Visibilty, check All systems in Hide empty staves. And check Allow individual staves of multi-staff instruments to be hidden.

So perhaps @LAE deserves the solution credit rather than your post?
