When I try to change the full name of the instrument, it doesn’t change. What am I doing wrong?
If you are trying to change the Instrument name to “V.1” then click the toggle next to the Player V.1 to open the options for that Player, then click the … and click Edit Names.

When you double-click a card in the Players panel in Setup mode, you’re changing the player name. By default, Dorico shows the instrument name in staff labels.
