Instrument tied to percussion map?

I’m working with drums and I’ve set up the percussion kit, set up the percussion map and changed the routing in Play to go to my custom perc map. Finally, I’ve saved this instrument as the default (Setup>Edit Instrument Definition>star button). What I’d like to have happen is to be able to choose my instrument (drums) when adding a new player and have the percussion map tied to that instrument. Is that possible or do I have to redo the mapping every time?

You need to save the Endpoint Configuration so that Dorico knows to map that Percussion Map to your kit.

I’ve tried saving the endpoint configuration. However, when I try to add this instrument to another file, neither the percussion map, nor the endpoint configuration is automatically linked. Attached is a file with the drums how I would like them set up.

You should incorporate your endpoint into a Playback Template. Like this…

Here, my Omni-base1 endpoint loads an Omnisphere instance for a synth and all (any) other instruments use NotePerformer.

In your case, you would put your Drum kit endpoint first, and one of the Dorico factory templates alongside.

It’s been a while replying because I’ve been trying to figure this out and I feel pretty stumped. I’ve watched the videos and read the docs for playback templates and endpoints and I’ve set each of those up. The good news is that my drums are saved with a template and if I open a file from that template everything works as I want.

However, I still haven’t been able to figure out my original question which was adding a drum set to a player and having all these same configurations show up. A new complication is that while I’ve got my new playback template set as my default, if I reload that same playback template, I lose my custom percussion map (it goes back to a default).

I would just like to be able to add a drumset to a file that doesn’t already have one and have my settings as I like them. What am I missing?
