Interrupted // split bars

Hello,
I have string+flute section where the time-sig. is changing; and below a rhythmical duo piano and tamburin. The duo goes with a 5/8 time-sig. straight.
In Partitur and single voices the bars are going to be interrupted or split. How can I change that? thx for any help

Use a manual system break:

In a system with no barlines, or non-matching barlines, Dorico just fits as much music as it can. It looks like coincident barlines are scarce in this passage.

do you know, if i can priorities bars? meaning: i would like to have the 4 systems organised with no splits. The 2 systems below which is a constant 5/8 can be split.
does that make sense?

I’m not sure exactly what you mean, but I get the general idea. The only options are manual breaks and fixed casting-off. With manual breaks, you can set “Wait for next break” to force more music on a system (use with care). The Make Into System command sets this for you.

sorry Mark, my answer was totally wrong …
the thing is:
I have a string section + flute which is playing sth, meter is changing … underneath there is a percussion+piano pattern in a constant 5/8.
I would like that the string section has kind of priority in the score; meaning, that the bars are not split (like on the picture) … the 5/8 pattern could be split.
Anyway, besides that, in the single score the bars are also split, which makes totally no sense and is awful to read for the musicians.
does it make sense?

Yes, this makes sense, and corresponds with the screenshot in the OP.

Here’s what I recommend if you’ve got all the music entered:

  • Temporarily change the Percussion & Piano to open meter (no barlines), to see how much music Dorico fits in each system
  • Add manual system breaks as needed so that the bars of the upper parts are not split
  • Lock the format of the layout. This adds frame breaks to everything.
  • Finally, restore the individual 5/8 meters to the Perc & Piano

Now, if you’re still composing … I recommend writing it all in galley view and ignoring the layout completely until you have all the music in!
