How do I write four quarter rests in one bar without the automatic full bar rest kicking in. Force duration does not work.
Welcome to the forum, Peter. It should indeed be as simple as starting note input, typing , to engage rest input, typing O to engage Force Duration, typing 6 to choose the quarter note duration, then typing Y four times to input four rests.
If you’re in a layout that shows multi-bar rests, you may also need to add something after the first beat that would split the multi-bar rest (as Dorico treats whole empty bars as a multi-bar rest in layouts where multi-bar rests are shown).
A text item that just contains a blank Space would do the job.
