It looks like the HAlion purchase I made a few months ago has been marked obsolete and hidden as if it never existed, and now the updated version needs a separate purchase. 15€-20€ is not much money for having good sounds, but the HAlion sounds included are very low quality, and planned obsolescence on this makes me feel sad.
I already switched to another brand, this is not harming me, but Steinberg instead. Good luck Lars, but better improve your aim for the next shot.
Hi Lars,
Thank you, I have just purchased HALion Sonic Play, the fact it can be loaded separately into my keyboard controller app KeyStage is absolutely amazing, what makes me feel slightly disappointed though is that for the past few months I have purchased a lot of different synth apps that I will probably no longer use now that HALion Play is available for me to use, this has to be the best £14.99 I have spent in a long time.

We are sorry to hear that your experience has not been a positive one.
While there can occasionally be unavoidable overlaps between product releases and platform developments, our goal remains to support our customers as best as possible. In the case of HALion Sonic Play for iPhone and iPad, the intention was not to replace or invalidate previous purchases, but to expand our mobile offering. With HALion Sonic Play, users can now access instruments such as Verve, Etude, and Iconica Sketch as AUv3 plugins, and use them in other compatible mobile hosts as well.
To provide more context, we have summarized the background and related topics in a dedicated article.
Regarding your specific situation, we’d genuinely like the opportunity to look into it and help resolve any issue you may be experiencing. Please reply to my private message so we can review the details and see what can be done.

We are very glad regarding your feedback, and are happy to read that you seem to enjoy using HALion Sonic Play so far!
Wow, just went through all the presets in HALion Sonic Play, I now need a new Favourites tab to keep track of my favourite Favourites.
HSP is incredible
I’ll try to grab Halion Sonic Play once the Internet connection is working properly again…
To those who have it already…
Can the ‘Halion Sonic Selection’ be hidden/removed from the instrument selector?
(for new users it’s no longer an option to even get Halion Sonic Selection so technically it should be possible to hide it no?!).
Hi Samuel,
I have HS Selection and HS Player on two iPads and I was going to remove HS Selection from the one iPad, but I can’t find a way of deleting HS Selection, the instrument is not located in the Cubasis 3 folder.
Mike
Thanks for checking…
…what I thought of doing (once my Internet is working properly) was to completely delete and re-install Cubasis but as the first thing Cubasis does is to Restore Purchases Halion Sonic Selection will automatically be enabled as I’ve already bought it so it will pop up in the instrument list.
There is an option to ‘Delete’ Halion Sonic Selection in the store but that does not remove it from the browser?!
Ideally we should get an option to hide those ‘Instruments’ in the browser that are either not purchased or installed on the device? (As an example the Iconica thing is in the browser even though I’ve not bought it).
But I get it, the shop icon on non-purchased items in the browser is a psyche-trick to get people to eventually buy them
If you do found away of hiding or removing HSS from the browser I will be interested to try it, I have a few projects that use HSS on both my iPads, if something went wrong on the iPad Air 4 during the process, I will always have a version on my Air 6.
Mike
I don’t think it’s possible to ‘hide’ Halion Sonic Selection for now.
Deleting Halion Sonic Selection also removes the samples/sounds used by Halion Sonic Play and when re-installing the sounds for Halion Sonic Play Halion Sonic Selection gets re-activated.
Considering the deep integration (ie. midi-import which normally uses Micro Sonic, but if Halion Sonic Selection is installed it uses that one, and if Halion Sonic Selection was ‘removed’ Cubasis would have to either revert back to Micro Sonic or give an option to use Halion Sonic Play etc.).
All the Halion Sonic Selection sounds are present in Halion Sonic Play so when loading ‘older’ projects that use Halion Sonic Selection could automagically use Halion Sonic Play.
Naturally this is ‘in theory’ as I have zero clue of how Cubasis works under-the-hood, that is something for @LSlowak and his has a way better grip on.
Sometimes things that feel ‘easy’ might have a thing or two that one doesn’t always think about
Hi Samuel,
Thanks for all this information.
I duplicated one of my larger projects that uses a number of HALion Sonic Selection instances, I duplicated it and then removed a couple of instances in the Plugin browser, I closed and reopened Cubasis and just as I expected - the tracks remained with no selected plugins, I didn’t really expect anything to happen to be honest, but I think the only way to to stop using HSE is to duplicate each track and change the HSE to HSP and re-sellect the same preset in all duplicated tracks and check they all work by muting the originals and then delete the original track if all is ok. I am going to do this later this evening. It will only prove that HSP becomes the main plugin even though HSS still exists in the Instrument browser.
If HSP shares the same content as HSS without increasing memory usage then I will just keep things as they are, if deleting HSS also removes its content from HSP then …… it’s Sunday and I won’t swear lol
Mike
No need to ‘duplicate tracks’ as the instrument is not changed before a preset is selected.
So what I did was to select a track with Halion Sonic Selection, use the List/Browse button to show the preset-browser, tap the back arrow all the way where you can select Halion Sonic Play, tap on Halion Sonic Play use the ‘Search’ function to search for the preset (since the plug-in is NOT loaded before a preset is selected it’s ‘safe’), you can see the current preset used by Halion Sonic Selection in the plug-in view, search for it, tap on it when it’s found and boom, Halion Sonic Play is loaded with the same preset You used with Halion Sonic Selection.
I have just duplicated 7 HALion Sonic Selection tracks and realised I didn’t have to do this, you have just described the easy way to do it. I was worried I would not be able to find each preset easily, but as soon as I opened HSS I was able to navigate backwards to which section the preset resided, I then selected HSP/Factory Presets/instrument group and find the preset which is still named in the HSS preset slot, so very very easy, I will use the search function in my other past projects, it gives me something to do on a hot Sunny Afternoon …..that sounds like a good song title lol

Hi delmusicmad,
Welcome to the Forum
This topic has recently been discussed and I have attached a reply from LSlowak (Cubasis 3 Project Manager) with his encouraging answer to this problem
