I posted this in the forum about an Issue I’m having with Verve for iOS, but haven’t received any response:
I tried contacting Steinberg support about the issue I’m having and they directed me to the forum. According to them, the developers check this forum. I downloaded Verve for iOS from the App Store. When I tried to download the sound content it failed because I didn’t have enough space in my device. After that I opened up space in my device, I tried downloading the sound content again but this time it failed with an error in installation. I decided to delete the app and download it again from the App Store. Then I opened the app but this time it didn’t direct me to download sound content, it went straight to the app’s UI. The problem I now have is that I get no sound from the app, neither as a standalone app nor as an AUv3 plug-in. I checked the manual and everywhere in the app but I can’t find anywhere where you can reload the sound content. Please note that I also own Iconica Sketch and I noticed that for some reason the storage for both apps gets lumped together, so there might be an issue with the way this is implemented.
Device: iPad 10th Generation
iOS: 17.6.1
Please advise on what should be done to fix this issue.
Thanks for your response @LSlowak . That is exactly what I had done. I have just done it again and still have the same problem. I have enough space, the app downloads and installs, but I get directed to the main UI and not to the prompt that asks for sound content download. No sound still from the app. I’m sorry to speculate, but since Verve and Iconica Sketch storage seem to be shared, maybe a flag still resides in Iconica Sketch storage that makes Verve think it already downloaded the sound content. My next step is going to be to delete Iconica Sketch and install Verve alone.
@LSlowak, I think I was correct. I deleted Iconica Sketch and now when I download and install Verve, I get directed to the Download Content prompt. I know that this is an edge case, but maybe there could be a fix for this to avoid any trouble for other people that already own Iconica Sketch.
@LSlowak, well, now I’m having the same problem but with Iconica Sketch. I downloaded Iconica Sketch and downloaded the Sound Content. For some reason it failed the Install ( I think the message said Failed to Write file). The Shared storage shows a total of 3.28 GB, which is the total for both apps. When I try Iconica Sketch it has no sound. Can Verve and Iconica Sketch coexist on the same device? Why do these apps share storage? I thought Apple sandboxing wouldn’t allow this, hmmm.
Below please find the feedback from our engineering:
During content installation, Iconica Sketch requires about twice the size of the download as free space. The same goes for Verve and Etude. They work well together on the same device, and they put their content in a shared storage location (which is a relatively new feature by Apple, still sandboxed) in order to share it with Cubasis 3.
How much free storage space is available on your iPad?
Please try the following:
Make sure that there’s at least 4 GB of free space
Delete Iconica Sketch
Reinstall it from the App Store
If the content installation fails, please post a screenshot of the error message.
Another thing you could try is to update to iPadOS 26.2
Hi @LSlowak. Thanks for your response. I have upgraded to a new iPad with more space. It would be great if there would be a message from the app that says explicitly: “Can’t install sound content. Iconica Sketch/Verve requires twice the advertised size (x GB) of free space in your device to be able to install the sound content.” instead of just failing or exhibiting weird behavior. Thanks
