iPad Apple Pencil changes onscreen keyboard

Hello, I mentioned this in another thread already, still I try to isolate the issue.
I use Dorico for iPad on an iPad Pro without a keyboard attached.
If I use my finger as touch device and input text into Dorico, either lyrics or anything with popovers or for using the Jump Bar, I get the familiar big onscreen keyboard to touch in the letters.

If I, on the other hand, use the Apple Pencil for one action only, (just one pencil touch anywhere in the application), the onscreen keyboard changes to a tiny one, which resembles the iOS keyboard.

I have not found a way back to the normal big onscreen keyboard, except by completely shutting Dorico down and restarting it.
There might be a setting in iPadOS where I can control this, but I have not found it. Is here anybody who is more proficient on the iPad who could give me a tip how to solve this?

I just read about this. It’s called the floating keyboard. Can you spread 2 fingers on the keyboard to make it full size again? That’s how it’s supposed to work.

Thank you I’ll try it asap

[edit] fantastic, it’s working!
Best to put two fingers onto “the grey bit” to enlarge and also to pinch it small. Otherwise some letters will be inadvertently typed…

I also noticed another possibility: if one touches the right panel with the finger, the big keyboard appears, if one taps with the Apple Pencil, the tiny keyboard appears. If one touches the right panel with the finger again, the big keyboard launches.
I wonder wether they fixed this at Apple’s with iPadOS 18 - because this was an issue for me - before I did the update yesterday.
