I’m using a Macbook Pro M4 and having difficulty using my IKMultimedia iRig Pro with Cubase 15 as it does not show up as an audio device. This is the same with 14 & 13 too. It does show up as a midi device, however, so I know that Cubase is aware of it.
The iRig Pro shows up in other DAW software as an Audio Device, however.
Sorry that my screen shots are in pdf format, when I tried to put them in as png files I got an error that a new user can only embed one file so I added them to a pdf.
cubase.pdf (914.3 KB)
I’ve tried everything I can think of. Reboot Cubase, reboot the Macbook, unplug and replug the iRig, tried different USB port, made sure that Cubase is selected in the Security and Privacy Control Panel to no avail.
Any ideas?
Eric
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Check System Settings:Make sure Cubase has enabled Mic in the System Preferences, please. Open macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone. Enable Cubase here.
Select the ASIO Driver: Ensure that the driver for your iRig Pro is correctly selected in the Cubase Audio Settings. Go to Studio > Studio Setup and confirm that the appropriate ASIO driver for your iRig Pro is set.
Check Audio Connections: Make sure that your audio connections are properly configured. Navigate to Studio > Audio Connections and verify that the input and output busses are correctly defined with the iRig Pro included.
Thanks for your reply.
Check System Settings - I’ve done that. I’ve unchecked and rechecked the switches.
Select the ASIO Driver: I’ve done that but it only shows “ASIO Driver Built in Audio” or “No Driver” as the options. I Believe the Mac only has the one ASIO driver for Core Audio, unlike Windows.
(screen shot in next reply because I can only embed one file in this post)
Check Audio Connections: It only shows the Built In Audio. There is an “Add Bus” button at the top left, is that how a new audio connection is made?
The iRig is seen and I’ve been able to record my guitar in Logic Pro, Bitwig Studio, Ableton Live, Audacity, Quicktime and all the other audio apps, only in Cubase it doesn’t show up.

Hi,
Isn’t it a BT device by any chance?
No, it is USB 2.0. It has a USB-A cable end and I plug that into a USB-C adapter and then into my Mac. I plug my guitar into the front.
I just opened Wavelab 13 and it isn’t seen there either so it is only my Steinberg software that doesn’t see it.
Eric
I must be missing something in Cubase (and Wavelab) setup because every other audio software on my laptop sees it as an audio input. Even zPlane’s deCoda app:
I had a thought that maybe the USB-C adapter might be an issue so I connected the iRig Pro to my trash can Mac Pro desktop USB-A jack without using the USB-C adapter but still the audio input doesn’t show the iRig in Cubase. This Mac Pro is an Intel Mac not Apple Silicon like the laptop so the platform doesn’t seem to be causing the issue either. Neither will it show on Intel nor Silicon Mac.
Hi,
All Steinberg products are a bit special. They are using a conversion from the native macOS audio drivers (Core Audio) to the native Steinberg driver type: ASIO.
So there might be some incompatibility with the conversion component.
Have you tried to ask on the IK Multimedia forum, or their support, if other customers have this issue, please?
Yes, I have opened a ticket with their support group this morning and also asked if they’ve heard of anyone else having the issue. If they respond with some news (other than “you are the first one to report it)”) I will update this thread for future readers. In the meantime I think I need to export this project to Logic Pro so I can finish recording the guitar parts. Or buy a new interface.
Thank you for helping, I appreciate your time.
