this is a bit unexpected:
No slurs involved, only ties, no manual edits. What in my settings could have caused this? I really cannot find the culprit here.

Are these in different voices perhaps?
Have you closed the file, restarted Dorico, and reopened it? (Or rebooted?)
Can you include this in a cut down copy of your file?
At worst, you could reset your Tie Engraving Options to factory in the Library Manager.
I don’t know if you can even tie different voices together; but yes - seeing the document would be best.
Yes, that can be done by selecting the first note then CMD-click (on a Mac) to select the second following by pressing T. It can even work across adjacent staves.
Honestly, this looks like the height of the tie was changed in Engrave Mode.
Sorry for not coming back to this sooner (because of a deadline…) but here is a screenshot showing that it is all in one voice, no edits to the slurs.
I found the setting in question –
I really do not remember why I changed the factory setting to 0.27, but if I reset it I get this…
… which of course is more pleasant, even if I could have lived with the middle tie adjusting to the outer ones as well.
I have to admit that when it comes to slur and tie settings, it always feels a bit like whack‑a‑mole — fix one thing, and something else pops up broken… Maybe I just have to learn the tools better.
