Is anyone else having this: No Valid License Found issue?

Because I’m totally puzzled!
When Steinberg had their anniversary sale a while back I upgraded from CB 11 to 14, bought Absolute 6 and WaveLab 12. Great, no dongle, a freed up USB port. Everything worked fine until I took a couple of months hiatus. Then Cubase would load at first but, whilst all the icons would show from the loops & samples tab, all of them were empty when selected- no files just empty, which I thought was odd. So I’m quite new to the Mac OS but decided to investigate. On clicking Activation manager I got - “No Valid License found!” So I couldn’'t do anything, but proceeded to get this same message with Cubase and WaveLab. Never had a problem like this with the dongle since Cubase 5.

I have asked Steinberg for help, twice now, via their contact us system but didn’t even receive an acknowledgement. Yet they have no problem sending emails trying to sell me stuff.
If anyone could shine a light on what can be done I would be eternally grateful. Or is this a regular issue with the new licensing system??
Thanks in advance.

Make sure you’re logged in to activation manager with correct account.

Thanks for the reply, but when I try to open activation manager I just get the same message: No Valid License Found, so I havent been able to access activation manager. But I think the solution to my problem is something along those lines. It would be nice if Steinberg replied to my call for help.
But thanks again for the suggestion.

Is the computer connected to the Internet? You need to refresh the license every 30 days, or I think you can do an offline activation.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes my MacBook is connected to the internet, as it is now, but I have made a couple of checks to the Steinberg control apps. Steinberg download manager opens right away but download assistant does not and I get the following error message - “A connection to the download server cannot be established. Check your internet connection and try again.” I have not Idea why that is nor do I need to download anything, just checking. If I click Steinberg activation manager it simply says “No licenses found.” And yet, all worked fine until recently. I am truly at a loss has to what is going on and what to do.

Honestly, if Steinberg continue to ignore my appeals for help vie their contact us routine I may have to considering cutting my losses (Manny hundreds of pounds!) and opting for Reaper or Ableton.
But once again thanks for your suggestion.

Try to re-force a connection with your account, that means log out and try to log in again.
Make sure all components are up-to-date.

What version has your SDA?

Thanks for the reply.
I’m afraid I am not very up to date with the terminology since taking a break from my music hobby between 2020 and late 2024 and switching from Windows to Mac. Do I have to log out and log back in from My Steinberg portal? I just googled SDA but that didn’t help.
All the same I appreciate your input so thanks again.

download the latest version of Steinberg Download Assistant.

once in a while Steinberg cuts of the connections and force the updates of the downloader. could be the solution too

since you cant connect it most certainly that is the issue, and the download assistant (SDA for short) and the activation manager work together

Cheers for that and all having the patience to help. I’ll check that out now :folded_hands:

Well after doing that, which seemed to go quite well, I managed to open Steinberg Download Assistant Which I couldn’t do before. However, I’m still getting No Licence found when I try to launch Cubase 14. Maybe I should try rebooting the computer…?

And I’m still getting No License Found if I try to launch Steinberg Activation Manager! Still, maybe a little progress at least

are you logged in to your license manager? correct email and so on? can you log in to your onlien steinberg account on this computer and see your licenses?

I’m not sure. If I try to open Activation Manager I get:-
No Licence found
No licence for Cubase has been found on your computer, so your software cannot run.
Automatic Licence Management is turned off in settings. You need to activate your licences manually.

This is all so confusing. How do I activate my licenses manually? Never had a problem with the dongle.

if you put automatic management on then try to run Cubase.. could help you get going in the correct spots.

Sorry to be a pain, but how exactly do I do that? Just when I though I was getting the hang of it :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

The only thing I can open is Download Assistant, which is an improvement but not a cure.

settings in the activation manager. top right corner.. you can go to “mysteinberg” from there etc etc.. and all info should be there

Thanks, I’ll look into that now :crossed_fingers:

If that works I owe you a pint :slightly_smiling_face:

I have also not been able to sign in to activation manager for 3 days…i have tried all possible solutions i could find including off-line activation using a laptop but that cannot sign-in either! i cannot use any steinberg product ie cubase 12-13-14 -nuendo 13 wavelab!

You appear to have the same issue as me. Dreadful isn’t it? And it’s all so damn complicated. Why on earth did they do away with the dongle and replace it with something inferior?
Have you put a ticket in yet? They have closed down now for Easter. I’ve contacted them twice regarding this issue over the past two weeks but haven’t even had an acknowledgment, yet they’re quick to send emails trying to sell me more software. Well, that’s not going to happen after this fiasco, not on their Nelly. In the mean time I may download Reaper.
Anyway, thanks for your comments Stixman I don’t feel quite so alone now, not that that’s much of aa consolation for either of us. But do let me know if you have any luck coming up. :ok_hand:

I sent a ticket 4 days ago not heard back hopefully they can help resolve issue after Easter…very strange we get treated this shabbily!.. lucky for me i have hybrid setup so i can still function productively with hardware synths and drum machines otherwise i would be fooked…
