Is Cubase 13 ready for MIDI 2?

Hi,
In the Preferences > Editing > MIDI, there is the High Resolution Display Range. The default setting is the common 0-127, but you can change it to 0-100 and then set the High-Resolution Display Format (1 up to 1.000). So there is one of the most important MIDI 2 feature available in Cubase 13: High Resolution.
Hi Martin,
Not sure I understand this. MIDI 1 is 128 steps maximum. I think MIDI 2.0 controllers have 32-bit resolution which means that their resolution is 4, 294,967,295 steps. What’s this got to do with 100?
Does Cubase 13 support Property exchange, MIDI 2 Packets, MIDI capability enquiries, profile configuration?

Hi,
You can set 1.000, or 1.001, this is where the high resolution plays the role. So in fact, the resolution is 0.000 up to 100.000, i.e. 100000 steps.
But only if your input is MIDI 2 then I assume?
Still, 100,000 is a huge improvement, but not 4, 294,967,295 steps of MIDI 2.
Hi,
No. You can process any MIDI Message like this internally in Cubase 13.
So I guess the answer is no, Cubase 13 is not fully MIDI 2.0 compatible?
It should be some coverage in remote controllers handing. There are a few midi2.0 devices out there and to “proof” it comparability the should work at least in bidirectional mode.
How would you use this then please? If I hit a note on my keyboard (Nord Stage 4) which is not MIDI 2, it only records 128 steps. Where and why would you need more if your performance is limited to 128? Where might this be useful?
Tried the manual, could not find anything.
Can Cubase support a Bidirection mode?
Hi,
Yes, the value will be translated from the 0-127 scale to the 0.000-100.000 scale. Then you can edit it and use the high resolution if it makes sense for you (i.e. if the instrument you are using, supports it).
If the Instrument supports it, you can use it.
