Is Dorico a good choice for this type of lyrics and chords output?
No, not as such (yet). It has been requested/discussed before on this forum, so the developers are aware of the need (they read everything here). I agree it’s a valid and common type of music notation, although I never have a need for it myself. Maybe you can leverage Dorico’s feature to display the diagrams, and then simply not show the staves, just a text frame.
No doubt there are fellow users here who have more experience with this kind of lead sheet.

When I needed something like that, I always used Word (and not Finale 
). As Pjotr said, music notation programmes may be useful for displaying chord symbols, which can be inserted into word processing programmes as graphics or screenshots.

So to be clear, would you use Dorico for only the chord symbols and do everything else is a word processor? Or would you try to get as much as possible out of Dorico and only use the word processor as needed? With a text frame could it all conceivably be done in Dorico – even if a bit finicky? (I’m perfectly happy to try anything, I just hope to avoid wasting time in a blind alley.)

I do these in InDesign. It’s powerful and does this sort of thing well. I also have a script that allows me to transpose charts (it’s on the forum here somewhere).
