Is it possible to move notes?

Hello. Is it possible to adjust the notes like in the sample photo?

AFAIK, you cannot move the dot vertically. What you can do is swap the voices positions, so that the half note comes before the dotted eighth.

There is a setting in Notation Options > Voices > Ordering Multiple Voices labeled Dotted notes on the right.

To replicate the original, one would think that this is a case for the tools Engrave mode offers to override settings, however, adjusting the offset of a note or a dot doesn’t do anything, so I don’t know why it’s even there and can be enabled…

You can with a tricky workaround:

  1. Enter the notes as shown
  2. Enter G, quarter note, in another voice, force the stem up.
  3. Upstem voice 1 in voice column index 0
  4. Half note: Adjust Voice Column X offset (like -3/4 spaces)
  5. Select the B (dotted eight), make it transparent
  6. Adjust the beam and remove the rests.

Oh, that’s a good idea. I’ll try it.

I tried as you suggested, but it doesn’t work starting from step 3. I’m a Dorico Pro 5 user. I tried moving notes in Engrave mode, and the half notes and dotted eighth notes move together. If you don’t mind, could you please provide a video explanation? Thank you.

Voice Column Index does not appear.

Here you are, made in Dorico 5:

Thank you so much for your kind explanation. It was so well hidden that I couldn’t find it. This has been resolved. Thank you.
