Hi everyone,
I probably already know the answer to this, as I’ve searched and read everywhere I can think of, but just in case someone knows something I don’t—or has a convenient workaround—I thought I’d ask.
Is there any way to rename the Note Expression parameters or controller lanes in Cubase? For example, being able to rename “CC 14 (Control 14)” to something more meaningful like “Cutoff” or “Amp Release” would make life so much easier and improve workflow clarity.
I actually asked this same question way back in 2012, but unfortunately, I didn’t get any joy at the time. I’m hoping that we may have progressed since then and that there’s now a way to do this—or at least a better workaround.
For context, I’ve been using a workaround of my own where I set up a MIDI channel routed to whichever instrument or insert I want to control, and I name that channel after the parameter I want to edit. I then use a controller lane specifically for that parameter on that MIDI channel. While this works okay, it’s not exactly the most efficient solution, and I’d really like to use Note Expression instead. Note Expression is fantastic for making adjustments on a note-by-note basis, but it’s very cumbersome and confusing not being able to rename the parameters.
If anyone has any insights, hidden features, or even third-party tools that could help, I’d love to hear about them!
Thanks in advance!
