I did some testing earlier and when I create a mono audio track to record vocals it sounds stereo. I have to create a mono group track and route the mono audio track to that for it to sound mono. I know the end result is playback stereo playback in the master but I’m confused as to why the change in sound. Maybe the sound change is not so much stereo/mono difference but there is a difference in sound.
Well then you should first find out, what the difference is like…
Then maybe post some useful info on setup and what you are doing with what gear…
If you are recording a mono mic through a mono bus onto a mono or stereo audio track the resultant file is a mono file. It should sound mono unless you have some VSTe active on either audio track or the main output channel or somewhere else in the recording/playback chain.
