Is the full content of Halion sonic 3 now in Cubase 13?

I know about Halion sonic 7.Not sure about the content. I think the Halion sonic 3
Content is now called the collection.

HALion Sonic 3 (HALion 6) is different than the new (HALion 7) HALion Sonic Collection.

Anyway … no, the full content of HALion Sonic 3 is not included in Cubase 13.

Does The collection contain more instruments’/sample than Halion sonic 3.?
The collection is $249.No upgrade from Halion sonic, that I know of.

You can update from HALion Sonic 1, 2, and 3 to the HALion Sonic 7 Collection.

Thanks, Is there more content in the collection than there is in Halion sonic 3?

If you’re seriously thinking about upgrading, I’d spend the extra $$$s and get HALion 7.

Thank you.this is a good deal…I will check it out.

Everything that came with Sonic 3 (Libraries containing the old ‘basic’ and ‘artist’ libraries…stuff that typically ships with hosts like Cubase and Dorico) are ‘reorganized’ into a library called ‘Sonic Selection’, but it’s all still there, and should continue ‘working’ with projects old and new).

One potential issue is that Sonic 7 doesn’t come in a VST2 format. You can still have Sonic 3 SE installed, but it can’t see or use the newly organized libraries. If you’re on Windows and need VST2, the only way to make it happen is to use some kind of VST2<>VST3 bridge. Personally, I use bidule for this task. Other options are vst3shell, Kushview Element, Blue Cat’s Patchwork, and probably more by now.

Sonic Collection includes Two new libraries.

Thanks Brian, I bought FM lab.I have Halion sonic 3. I really like it.

Upgrading to cubase pro 13 was like downgrading…in previous versions i had hs3 with lots of usable presets/instruments but now in Halion sonic 7 i got next to nothing. and i can’t see any way to put halion sonic3 or any of the presets into cubase 13. so frustrating…

You should find Sonic 7 replaces Sonic 3SE. All the old content should be present and useable. Old projects you load should work as before.

Make sure you have updated all the HALion content. Use the Steinberg Download Center. It should update it all on its own. If you have issues, go to your Cubase 13 tab. Grab all the HALion/Sonic content again.

Once you’ve upgraded to Sonic 7, don’t try to use the old versions Sonic 2 or 3 SE anymore. Uninstall older versions of Sonic if it’s still on your system. Most of those need the dongle, and older versions of the content/libraries that also needed the dongle.

Sonic 7 properly installed should be fine even if you’ve kept older versions of Cubase and use them. I.E. Run Cubase 10 or 11, and they should be fine with Sonic 7 in place of the older 3SE version. Projects should keep on working just as they did with Sonic 3 SE.

If there is some reason you NEED to stick with the older versions of HALion/Sonic, be aware that you’ll also need to also go back to the old content libraries too (they were updated to be dongle free, reorganized, and some even got new UI designs [yet sound/play the same as before]). You might well need to keep the dongle plugged in for any of it to work.
