Is there a way to Batch export multiple mix versions (with different tracks muted)?

I’m pretty sure there isn’t, but just in case:

Is there a way to export multiple mixes at once (Batch export) with different tracks muted for each separate mix? Pro Tools either has this or there’s an app that does it. The amount of time saved/not slaved to the computer would be significant for those of use who deliver many mix versions.

Note: I’m NOT talking about stems or individual tracks! I’m talking about different versions of a mix where certain tracks are muted.

I know a workaround is to create multiple Mix Groups, but in a huge composing session this can create processing overloads and other issues.

There are ways to achieve this but it requires you to set up the project accordingly.

First you need to create an output bus for each expected mix. Audio Connections → Outputs

These output busses do not need to be connected if you want to use them only for rendering.

From here there are two possibilities that are similiar to each other.

  1. Use “Sends” to steer which signals will go to which output bus. E.g. if you have already some groups it could look like this

  2. With Cubase Pro or Nuendo you could use “Direct Routing” instead of the Sends. That has the advantage that you keep the normal usage of sends and the final mix requirements seperated. Prerequisite is to turn on “Direct Summing Mode”.

Does that help you already?

There isn’t any way to do what you are asking.
JM’s answer can be useful at times, but can’t account for things such as muting tracks within a group.
The workaround is to use cycle markers. A screenshot will hopefully explain all -

Why not?

Great idea, that’s simple and is easy to do. Thank you.

In a film score with many cues in one session it wouldn’t work so well due to how long a film is and how many cues there are, but for shorter projects it’s a great.

Thank you for such a detailed description. This is a great idea, would be best for a template since it would take a while to set up.

Because tracks within a group need to go to the group master. You can’t mult them off to a different ‘mix bus’ (or not for muting!) without duplicating the entire group - obviously possible but can get unwieldy and complicated.

Fair point.

Obviously what would be nice is to be able to save multiple mix snapshots into the export batch list. …!

A multiple mix snapshot is a great feature request! Second that
