Is there a way to change individual preferences fast (by script, in terminal, shortcut)?

Hello. As a dorico novice (Finale user since 1990) I am quite impressed by the general philosophy and logic behind Dorico. Even so much that I have converted the 2nd act file of a full-scale opera half way which I started in Finale and am continuing in Dorico.

To my amazement I have realised that I could work in Dorico without using StreamDeck (temporarily trying to familiarise myself and then add Streamdeck later) or Keyboard Maestro. Popovers and Jump Bar- fantastic!

But now I came accross a setting which I would like to change probably quite often and on-the-fly. On the image “Create item at selection” / “Load pointer with item”. Both of those methods have strong sides and mixing them is a good way, depending on the context.

Is there a direct way to toggle this setting?
I will also attach KeyboardMaestro scripts that, as a workaround, will change the setting in about 1 second.

Of course- Dorico has it’s weaknesses too- a2>a3 divisi changes and workarounds to show them on the page… but that is for another topic.

No, there’s no easy way to toggle an individual preference via a key command, so if you have a Keyboard Maestro script that can do it, that’s probably the way to go for now.
