Is there a way to normalize audio before export when using cycle markers in Cubase?

Hi guys,
I’m working on a sound design project with Cubase and using a horizontal setup where each cycle marker is a different sound. I’m stacking layers vertically, and each stack plays through the stereo out. When I export using cycle markers, it works fine, but I can’t figure out how to normalize the output for each region.
I don’t want to normalize individual clips or layers, I want to normalize the sum of everything ie what you actually hear on the stereo out per cycle marker. Offline processing only works per clip, which is not helpful in my case..

Is there a way to normalize each export based on the final summed output per marker?

Hi,

This sounds like a Batch Process on all exported files to me. I believe WaveLab is in charge here.

I agree with Martin above. If you need all your clips to be normalized to the same values, batch processing your audio files after export is probably the way to go.
In case you don’t already own Wavelab there are several applications out there that can accomplish this task for free. (Wavelab is excellent though.)

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, Wavelab looks like a powerful tool, but I don’t think I need all the extra features right now since I’m mainly just doing batch audio normalizing… I ended up going with Python and FFmpeg for the batch normalisation.

Hi,

Be aware, when you normalise the multiple audio files, they will not sound as they are of the same level.

Thanks Martin , I totally agree, they won’t sound the same in terms of perceived loudness. But for now, the goal is just to have all the files sit at 0 dbfs for consistency purposes. so if I ever need to readjust them in a mix later, they’re all starting from the same peak level.
