Is there a way to shorten a trill line to less than three squiggles?

After a quick search in the forum and in the engraving options, it looks like this is indeed still a limitation…

Indeed, Dorico will ensure that there are at least three complete “wiggles” in the trill extender line. I don’t think we expose that as an editable option.

Yes (mostly), and as you see in example 3., this works (moving the symbol and line together on the left, as it seems you also experienced): The limitation of not being able to shorten the line itself is (probably) because the minimum amount of wiggles is 3, as @Mark_Johnson points out.
