Hi, is there a way to view the instrument layout in C14 score editor, as I would see it in any other editor software? By this I mean all instruments displayed below each other (as with the screen shot provided), but (also) displayed in an “all instrument view” below that (before note input).
I ask, because, if I’m scoring to film, and choose to to go to bar 12 (in the score editor), to manually input notes for cello, let’s say; I cannot. I first have to find that spot from the track view, highlight it, then wright for it. This makes me not want to use this editor. I usually jump around the score (to a certain degree), inputting ideas where I see fit. This cannot be done in C14 editor-if I cannot see the staves displayed for all instruments, (even if they haven’t been written for as yet).
Quite annoying!
There should be a “don´t hide empty systems” setting.
I think the problem here is that you’re using the “Sync Layout” (you can see it on the left side of your screenshot) which is a special dynamic layout that is automatically displayed from the selected tracks. This is a special layout that you would use in cases where you want to be able to continuously change what staves you see in the score rather than seeing the same group of staves.
Instead of doing this, you should manually make another layout called something like “Full Score” that is your full score layout that includes all instruments, then it shouldn’t matter what tracks you have selected. Then choose that layout to view it for most purposes. Only select the Sync Layout where you want this behaviour of having to select tracks to see only those staves in the score editor.
Hi @Sarita_Desouza, welcome to the forum!
Yes, there is. In the visibility panel on the left, click the “Settings” button. Open the “Vertical Spacing / Staff Visibility” section and adjust the value of the “Hide Empty Staves” option to “Never”.
Thank you! That worked!
