Is there an easy way to resize bars on the fly in Dorico 5 pro?

In Finale you could just click a barline a drag, and it would automatically resize everything for you. Is there anything similar in Dorico? Changing the size of a measure seems super complicated, though I’ve only started learning Dorico. I’m hoping I’m missing some simple trick to change bar lengths. I did Engraving mode>note spacing, but nothing would move when I tried to click and drag the handles.

Can you show us what you’re trying to achieve, exactly? It may be that there’s another method.

You can make adjustments in Note Spacing tool or sub-mode of Engrave mode. But they’re generally intended to be small, fine tuning.

You’ll need to use Alt Right/Left arrows, rather than dragging with the mouse.

Don’t use the manual modes in Engrave mode! Use Engrave menu>Insert Note Spacing change before the bar and after (reset). This is extremely robust, elegant and fast! (You should probably create a new key command to insert those).

@Joe_Malone
Ben’s advice to tell us (show us) what you are trying to achieve is generally the way to go. Post an image (or better yet, a Dorico file excerpt) and describe the problem; then we can give specific advice.

(Posting the same question in multiple threads is discouraged here as it can lead to fragmented or duplicate responses.)

Derrek made a good point about duplicate threads. I’d already posted an answer to your other one.

I’d really like to know what it is that you want to achieve. As an ex-Finale user, I remember having to tweak bar sizes manually all the time. In Dorico I almost never have to do this. Perhaps it’s just a question of the right settings. Resizing bars on the fly shouldn’t be necessary in Dorico.
